Hi everyone, thanks for coming by! This series of blog posts will catch you up on what we’ve been doing here at TAB.
Almost three years ago, we started thinking about a place in Singapore dedicated to live, original music. Needless to say, the journey involved many more factors than we’d originally considered, but preparations finally began in late 2009 when we found the perfect venue: a beautiful three-storey space overlooking the junction of Orchard, Tanglin and Orange Grove Roads.
It’s just the right size for what we want to be – bigger than your typical music bar, more intimate than something like the Indoor Stadium – where great food and drinks are always part of the experience. To give you an idea of the place, we’ll be large enough to accommodate about 600 people (standing room only) or about 200-250 people (seated only) , catered for by three full-service bars and our kitchen. All this is spread over our two main floors and centered around a stage big enough for a rock band.
We’ll talk about the music in greater detail in a later post, but the big idea behind TAB has always been to provide a unique music experience in Singapore. Not just once, but six days a week. Lots of places play host to bands, some with bigger stages than others, but when we looked to find a place where local artists perform their own songs on a regular basis, we came up short. Furthermore, opportunities for Singaporean bands to play alongside up and coming foreign artists and even some of the biggest international names in music are few and far between. Don’t even mention mixing genres in one venue. We believe TAB will change all of that.
